    Happy birthday to Pedro Garcia, Kaitlyn Kelly, Andrew Linn, Meghan Moriarty, Joshua Parrish, Hope Skoog, Jake Zeman, and Mr. Lauer.

     

    Congratulations to the September Student of the Month Winners: Alec Kessel, Johnny Jarrell, Preston Forrest, Alan Bruner, Pedro Matos, Madison Loger, Cheyenne Breeden, Cristobal Garcia, Ethan Walter, Annabell Parker, and Matthew Klein.

     

    Picture retake day is today. The Lifetouch photographer will be on the auditorium stage from now until 3:00. You may ask your study hall, P.E., health, or driver ed teacher for a pass to have your picture retaken. In order for your picture to be in the yearbook, you must be photographed by LifeTouch.  There is no charge for the yearbook photo.  If you wish to order a picture packet, order forms are available in the principal’s office. Orders and payment are to be given to the photographer on September 26th.  Seniors who have made arrangements with a photographer to have a picture into the yearbook editor by the deadline date need not be photographed by LifeTouch.

     

    There will be a Renaissance meeting after school today in room 324.  New members are welcome.

     

    There is a sophomore board meeting Wednesday, September 28th at 7:30 in room 304.

    Homecoming week is finally here! Here's everything you need to know!  Today is Sleeping Beauty Day!  It's great to see all these awesome Sleeping Beauties in their pajamas here at the Magic Kingdom known as LP High School  Remember, tomorrow is twin day, Wednesday is Lilo and Stitch Day, Thursday is Disney character day, and Friday is Red and Green day!  Dress like a Cavalier all week!

    Wednesday night is the Powder Puff football game!  Make sure to come out and cheer for your class!  The first game starts at 6pm at the Athletic Complex--and better still--it's free!

    Thursday is the Homecoming Parade.  The Parade starts at 4pm in downtown Peru and will work its way across Route 6 before eventually making its way through downtown LaSalle! Come support all the awesome clubs and teams at LPHS as well as your 2016 Homecoming Court!

    Friday night make sure you are at the football game at the end of the Sophomore game!  Don't be late!  The 2016 LP Homecoming Court will be presented before varsity warm ups so pack the student section early!

    Saturday's Homecoming Dance begins at 8pm.  There will be no admission before 8pm or after 9pm.  IDs and tickets are needed for entry.  Pictures will begin at 4:30pm and will go until 7:30pm.  Pictures will also be available at the dance from 8pm until about 8:45pm.  Picture pack price lists will be available when you purchase tickets.

    Tickets are available for purchase during all lunch periods today, tomorrow, and Wednesday in the New Cafeteria and before and after school in room 119.  Cost of tickets is $10.

    Homecoming t-shirts will be available for purchase this week before and after school in room 119 as well as in the new cafeteria during all lunch periods.  The cost of the shirts is $15.

    The Student Council wishes all Cavaliers a happy and safe Homecoming week!

    Key Club is having their regular weekly meeting tomorrow, September 27th at 7:15 AM in the Cavalier Community Room. Join us to find out about the exciting news from the Division Fall Leadership Rally and the awesome goals for the school year. New members are always welcome! 

     

    There will be an intramural whiffle ball tournament on October 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the Sellet Gym. Sign your team of 7 people up outside Coach Keating’s room 308.

     

    There will be an informational meeting for anyone interested in Scholastic Bowl, on Tuesday, September 27th at 2:45 in room 103. If you are interested but cannot make the meeting, see Mr. Woods in room 103. Practice will begin on Wednesday, October 5th at 3:30 in room 103.

     

    Attention sophomores: Applications for the Hugh O’Brian Youth Foundation Leadership seminar is now available in the Counseling Office. Please visit them today for more information.

     

    Are you a senior looking to go to college and need help with your application for admission or financial aid?  Come to the counseling office to sign up for additional assistance with this process.  LP Counselors and the ISAC Representative are here to help!  They will be here tomorrow from periods 3rd through 5th.

     

    Attention seniors:  The Counselors will be hosting a Parent Power Session for senior parents this Wednesday, at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium.  Topics include financial aid, scholarships and upcoming deadlines.

     

    Attention Seniors! Senior portraits are due October 7th.  You can email your photo to yearbook@lphs.net or bring it on a jump drive to room 328. 

    There are several new scholarships available: Stokes Educational Scholarship and B. Davis Scholarship. Check out all the scholarships on the lphs website.

     

    There will be open gym at the weight room Monday and Tuesday after school from 3 to 4. Any questions, ask coach Miller.

     

    To all students attending the Homecoming dance on Saturday, October 1, the following guidelines will be followed:

    • No junior high school student or person over the age of 20 will be admitted.
    • Picture ID cards are required in addition to the admission fee. All L-P students must have a current L-P ID. No student or guest will be admitted without a valid picture ID card.
    • Students will remain in the dance area until they are ready to leave and will not be readmitted if they leave.
    • The dance will begin at 8:00 p.m. and end at 11:00 p.m. Students must arrive by 9:00 p.m. in order to be admitted to the dance.
    • All school rules are in effect during dances including the prohibition of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.
    • In order for a student to attend the dance, he/she must be in attendance on Friday September 30th by 10:00 a.m.
    • Students are discouraged from scheduling elective medical appointments on Friday because if a student is not in school for four periods, he/she will not be admitted.
    • The principal may make exceptions, but this will only be done in rare cases where extenuating circumstances are evident.
    • Students on social probation will not be allowed to attend. If you have any questions regarding your status, see Mr. Sash.
    • The LP administration has the right not to admit any student who is not in good standing. LP administration has the right and responsibility to exclude any student or guest from attending a dance if it believes that this individual poses a safety risk or is disruptive to the educational environment.
    • All students bringing a non L-P guest to the dance must have had a completed “Guest Request Form” on file in the principal’s office by Friday, September 23rd.

    Attention all LP faculty, staff, and students!  We are only a week away from Homecoming Week and it is time for the variety show!  The variety show is next Monday, September 26 at 7pm in the Sellett Gym.  The cost of this event is only 3 dollars.  Come and support your fellow students and witness the live crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen.  

     

    Hey Students! Did you know there is a group on campus for students who share a passion for spirituality? Fellowship of Christian Athlete’s or (FCA) meets every week on Friday mornings at 7:15am. This group is open to all students, even if you are not participating in a sport. This Friday we’ll have granola bars and will be meeting in Ms. Ewald in room 326. We look forward to seeing you!
