    In January, the students entered their original pieces in a writing competition with other schools in the NIB 12 Conference. The students’ pieces will be judged and the results of the winning pieces will be revealed at the 2016 NIB 12 Literary Festival hosted here in LP’s Matthiessen Auditorium on April 7. Team members will receive more information in March about attending the Literary Festival periods 2-6.

     

    The freshmen girls basketball team finished their season with a record of 24 and 5.  They swept their conference by going 8-0 during the regular season and they set a record for most wins a freshmen girls basketball team has ever had.  Congrats girls.

     

    Key Club will be meeting Tuesday morning in Room 211 at 7:15 AM; we will have our final election this week. All DCLC payments are due on Tuesday! As well, please return any unsold Bergners coupon books at the meeting. 

     

    Join Key Club in celebrating our 20th! That's right, LPHS Key Club has been a club for twenty years, and we will be having a birthday celebration during all lunches on Tuesday. Stop by our booth to spin the wheel of fun and get a treat!

     

    Attention any girls interested in joining track and field this year: there is a meeting at 2:50 today in room 315.  If you cannot attend. see Coach Beatty.

     

    All Girls and Boys who participated and finished the year on the bowling teams need to see Mr. Pytel either before school in the old cafeteria or after school in the PE office about the Bowling Banquet. 

     

    Attention all freshman: You can pick up summer driver ed information in the counseling office. The deadline to apply is approaching quickly. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Cherveny in the driver ed room.

     

    Attention volleyball players not out for a spring sport: There will be an organizational meeting Tuesday, February 28th at 7:25 a.m. in the west gym.

     

    If you did not attend the High Scholarship program last Thursday and did not receive your certificate or plaque, please stop in the Counseling office.

     

    Any qualified Senior that would like to put in for the Senior Art Scholarships needs to have forms in to Mrs. Sarver by Friday, March, 3.

     

    Attention senior athletes: This is a reminder that the deadline for submitting all athletic scholarship applications is tomorrow, Tuesday, February 28th. Applications should be turned into the Athletic Office. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Kirkpatrick.

     

    Any senior who has completed at least 6 semesters in social science may pick up an application for the Bertusi Award from Mr. Woods in room 103 or download from Mr. Woods AP US History webpage on Office 365. The deadline to return the application is March 3rd.  The test will be taken on March 10th at 2:45 in room 103.

     

    This is a reminder for any student not currently enrolled in a Spring sport wishing to improve his/her health through weight training has the opportunity after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in the Weight Room. This is for both beginner and experienced weight lifters. If interested, please meet after school in the Weight Room. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Lauer in Room 321.

     

    Any senior who has received A’s both semesters in US History or Honors US History, is eligible for the Knights of Columbus US History Award. If you are interested in the award you will need to take award test on Thursday March 9th at 2:45 in room 103. Please see Mr. Woods if you have any questions.

     

    Congratulations to the 2017 intramural dodgeball championship team of Keegan Miller, Trevor Samolinski, Will Hocking, Brendan Pode, Brendon Sebastian, and  Jeremiah Johnson. They narrowly defeated the second place team of Riley Brovelli, Alison Shirley, Adriana Macchi, Kyle Christman, Damarie Martin, and Calvin Johnson in a 3 game thriller. Next up will be 3 on 3 basketball, so get your team together and start practicing.

     

    Sadie tickets are on sale today through March 3rd.

     

    To all students attending the Sadie Hawkins dance on Saturday, March 4th, the following guidelines will be followed:

    • No junior high school student or person over the age of 20 will be admitted.
    • Picture ID cards are required in addition to the admission fee. All L-P students must have a current L-P ID. No student or guest will be admitted without a valid picture ID card.
    • Students will remain in the dance area until they are ready to leave and will not be readmitted if they leave.
    • The dance will begin at 8:00 p.m. and end at 11:00 p.m.  Students must arrive by 9:00 p.m. in order to be admitted to the dance.
    • All school rules are in effect during dances including the prohibition of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.
    • In order for a student to attend the dance, he/she must be in attendance on Friday, March 3rd, by 10:00 a.m.
    • Students are discouraged from scheduling elective medical appointments on Friday because if a student is not in school for four periods, he/she will not be admitted.
    • The principal may make exceptions, but this will only be done in rare cases where extenuating circumstances are evident.
    • Students on social probation will not be allowed to attend. If you have any questions regarding your status, see Mr. Sash.
    • The LP administration has the right not to admit any student who is not in good standing. LP administration has the right and responsibility to exclude any student or guest from attending a dance if it believes that this individual poses a safety risk or is disruptive to the educational environment.
    • All students bringing a non L-P guest to the dance must have had a completed “Guest Request Form” on file in the dean’s office by Tuesday, February 21st.

     

    Attention students interested in an Agriculture related field:  IVCC recently began offering two Ag programs and will be visiting LP on Wednesday, March 1st during 2nd hour.  Please sign up in the counseling office if you are interested in more information.

    Attention seniors! The $500 Ferracuti Future Advocate Scholarship, $500 Ferracuti Trades Scholarship, and $500 Gary Eccles "Fighting for Gary" Scholarship deadlines have been extended to Friday, February 24.  If you are interested in a career related to law or one of the trades, please apply for a Ferracuti scholarship.   Applications are in the counseling office as well as on the LP Counseling website.  Please return the applications to the counseling office.

     

    Attention Science Club: our next meeting will be today right after school in room 305.

     

    Any senior who has received A’s both semesters in US History or Honors US History, is eligible for the Knights of Columbus US History Award. If you are interested in the award you will need to take award test on Thursday March 9th at 2:45 in room 103. Please see Mr. Woods if you have any questions.

     

    Attention all baseball players:  Today right after school we will be having our all players meeting in the auditorium.  If you are planning on playing this spring you must be in attendance.

     

    Attention LP student-athletes!  Are you considering sports in college?  If so, the LP Counseling Office is offering a Parent Power Session: Prepping for College Athletics on March 8, at 6:00 p.m. in the LP Auditorium.  The various types of college sports opportunities, eligibility requirements, scholarships, and additional related topics will be discussed.  Please join us!
